Our Journey Begins

After leaving our ranch, Rancho La Bellota, in Ensenada, Baja California on Saturday morning, we spent our first night in Puerto Peñasco aka Rocky Point in front of the ocean at a lovely established campground called Concha Del Mar. There were clean bathrooms, hot showers and good wifi reception. The caretakers were very welcoming and hospitable as well.

From there we headed south to Caborca and to our next destination which is Guaymas, Sonora. Unfortunately we ran short of sunlight so we stayed just outside of Hermosillo at an ioverlander site called Sonora Green where they sell turf. The place was very clean with a bathroom. No showers. That wasn’t a big deal. I was so happy to see a real toilet! Back in Puerto Peñasco we remembered to buy shrimp before leaving for dinner last night we feasted on savory shrimp, sauteed zuchini and brown rice. So delicious with home made pumpkin bread for dessert!

Abby, our 4 month old Australian Shepard is a wonderful travel companion. Her guardian instincts are on the alert already at such a young age. While Raul and I are asleep in our roof top tent she’s down below and guards the campsite at night. During the day she sleeps most of the time in the car as you can see. I’m knitting a pair of gloves for Raul. We hear it’s going to be cold in the mountains of Durango.❄️

Today we’re headed to Ciudad Obregon and from there Mazatlan. Looking forward to seeing that beautiful old town again! Raul and I were there a few years ago. Lovely place to visit.

Thank you for reading this and we’ll post more very soon!
